The Family Medical Leave Act

The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was first enacted by Congress on February 5, 1993, and was designed to aid workers suffering from a serious injury or disability to remain off work for up to three months while caring for one's family or themselves.    Basically, it grants an eligible employee to take up to 12 work weeks leave during any rolling 12 month period for a qualifying reason.

The Present

I teach at the University of Phoenix and in my leadership course I have people read books and talk about them. One of the books that a student read was called “The Present” by Spencer Johnson. My first thoughts were that the book was about presents, the gifts we receive. Instead, it was about how to use the PRESENT time to enjoy our lives, whether personal or professional.
