Brandon Chamber Has A New Executive Director E-mail

(BRANDON, FL) -  The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce has named chamber veteran Christine Michaels as its Executive Director. Michaels began her duties February 10.

Christine has had a 20-year career in Chamber of Commerce work, beginning in Upstate NY where she ran both tourism programs and an economic development organization. She most recently served as President of the Melbourne Regional Chamber in Florida and also the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce in Alexandria, VA.  Prior to Chambers, she worked in journalism for print, radio and public relations media. She is a former national chair of and presenter for the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Communications Division.

BRANDON CHAMBER NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR BRANDON’S 2014 KEY CITIZEN AND THE 2014 GREATER BRANDON COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARDS E-mail

BRANDON, FL - The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for Brandon’s 2014 Key Citizen Award and the 2014 Greater Brandon Community Leadership Award.

The recipient of the Key Citizen Award will be chosen on the basis of his or her contributions to the progress of the Brandon community. Nominees should be unselfishly devoted to contributing time and effort for the betterment of the Brandon community rather than for their own personal gain. Involvement in the Brandon community must be consistent, with a minimum period of service of five years, and should be in a number of well-rounded activities, primarily in the Brandon area, with an emphasis on the immediate past year. Nominations will be kept on file for a period of three years. After that time, previous applicants need to be nominated again and submit current information.

BRANDON CHAMBER PRESIDENT AND CEO LAURA SIMPSON NAMED MAIN STREET BARTOW, INC. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR E-mail

BRANDON, FL – The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO Laura Simpson, along with members of the Chamber’s Executive Committee, announced recently to the Board of Directors and staff that Simpson has resigned her position within the organization. Effective October 31, 2014, Simpson will step down as President and CEO to assume her new role as Main Street Bartow, Inc.’s Executive Director. The Chamber’s Executive Committee has begun transition planning, both for the long term and on an interim basis, and is searching for Simpson’s replacement.

Brandon Chamber Announces New President & CEO E-mail

BRANDON, FL – The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Laura Mills Simpson has been designated to lead the Chamber as the organization’s new President and CEO. Simpson had been serving in those roles on an interim basis since June 7, 2013 when the Chamber’s long term President and CEO, Tammy Bracewell, stepped down from the position and now works on special projects for the organization.

Brandon Cash Mob Hits Local Businesses! E-mail

Brandon Chamber and FOCUS Magazine Pump Dollars into Area Economy

BRANDON, FL – The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce and FOCUS Magazine came together this week to support local businesses that are in need of a little cash injection. The Brandon Cash Mob made its first official “hits” by visiting two Brandon Chamber members: The Simple Life Outfitters (2553 Highway 60 E, Valrico, FL 33594) and BubbaQue's Restaurant (957 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, FL 33511). Area businesspeople mobbed the apparel store for nearly 45 minutes and purchased over $700 worth of merchandise.

November 16, 2011, Brandon - The Board of Directors and Staff of The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce announced that the United States Chamber of Commerce has again awarded the organization with a 5-Star Accreditation. After the lengthy process, the Brandon Chamber became one of only 75 of the 6,936 chambers of commerce in the United States to have earned this prestigious 5-Star designation.

Brandon Chamber Announces Leadership Brandon Graduating Class Of 2011 E-mail

BRANDON- The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Leadership Brandon Class of 2011.  Twenty-eight class members were recognized after the completion of the year- long program. Graduation ceremonies were held on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at The Embassy Suites – Tampa/Brandon.  Dick Crippen, Senior Advisor for the Tampa Bay Rays was the keynote speaker for this event. Dick talked about how being involved in your community is important and that everyone should give back.
