Two of the most important concepts in the mortgage brokerage business are yield and discount points.

Yield is the return to a lender or investor on a mortgage loan is related to the interest rate the lender is charging. For example, a $140000 mortgage loan made at an interest rate of 5.75% has a yield of 5.75%.
