Blue Wave Swim Team Scores Big At Junior Olympics  E-mail

Orlando, FL. The 14 and under Blue Wave Junior Olympic Squad concluded their Long Course season at the YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando. Our swimmers represented Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center proudly with a 12 place overall team finish.  Throughout the course of the meet, the squad was able to earn 75 best times while winning titles and spots in the top 8 and 16.

Blue Wave Swim Team Brings Home The Medals From Nationals Championships  E-mail

The Blue Wave Swim Team at The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center is proud to announce that Celi Guzman, Age 9, and Barbara Caraballo, 14 swam extremely well at the Nationals Championship in Puerto Rico. Celi earned 4 gold medals and 2 silver, while Barbara earned 11 gold medals, broke 10 Puerto Rican records and 6 Blue Wave Swim Team Records. Celi is coached by Morag Betz and Ryan Leach, and Barbara is coached by Don LaMont.

The Blue Wave Learn To Swim Program At The Brandon Sports And Aquatic Center Selected By USA Swimming Foundation as Make a Splash Grant Recipient  E-mail

Make a Splash Grant to Assist Swimming Lesson Program for At-Risk Kids.

BRANDON, FL—The Blue Wave Learn to Swim Program at The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center was
selected as one of 9 learn to swim providers in Florida to receive up to $5,000 in grant monies from the USA Swimming Foundation, thanks to a generous donation from Bealls Department Stores. The Blue Wave Learn to Swim Program is recognized as a “Make a Splash Local Partner”, one of over 210 providers across the nation who has committed to the USA Swimming Foundation’s goal of helping provide the opportunity for every child in America to learn to swim.

Blue Wave Swimmers Come in Big  E-mail

Blue Wave swimmers came in big at The School District of Hillsborough County Fall Sports Awards Ceremony held Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the school district offices. Senior Kati Kyle was awarded Female Swimmer of the Year, and the Newsome Boys Swim Team achieved the High Grade Point Average award.

13 Year Old Blue Wave Swimmer Takes Silver Medal  E-mail

Blue Wave Swimming-13-year old Merrill Wilson, center, took the Silver Medal in the Women's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:59.57 at Short Course Junior Nationals held in Columbus, Ohio December 10 through 13, 2009.  Congratulations, Merrill!  Left to right:  Blair Butler-18, Bailey Bowden-13, Merrill Wilson-13, Jack Deedrick-17, and Elin Saatmo-17.
