Bathing Your Dog E-mail

I have found that this is the best process for achieving the most benefits for a dog’s skin and coat.

SHAMPOO:  The selection of the most appropriate shampoo is very important if your dog is suffering from a less than normal skin condition.  Their skin is not like ours. They need to have their hair free of anything that coats the hair shaft.  Shampoo for humans is not appropriate.  Not all shampoos that are marketed for dogs to pet owners are beneficial.  Most good breeders, professional dog groomers, or veterinarians will be able to give you advice about which brand or type of shampoo is best for your dog’s coat and skin.

10 areas to comb through with metal comb.

Placing your dog on a towel on top of a counter or the dryer may be easier for you and the dog.

     1. Comb through right ear. Slicker through tangles that are found.
     2. Comb through left ear. Slicker through tangles that are found.
     3. Comb through right skirt. Slicker through tangles that are found.
     4. Comb through left skirt. Slicker through tangles that are found.
     5. Slicker through the neck and chest area.
     6. Slicker downward all sides of right front leg.
     7. Slicker downward all sides of left front leg.
     8. Slicker downward all sides of right back leg.
     9. Slicker downward all sides of left back leg.
     10. Gently and carefully use comb to FIND TANGLES on all sides of tail.

When you find a tangle THEN USE THE SLICKER TO TAKE CARE OF IT.

Try your best to hold the hairs between the tangle and the dog's skin so that it doesn't hurt.

Your dog is now tangle free and worthy of snuggling and cuddling!

No, I’m not kidding.  For those of you who have been dealing with skin problems, smelly ears, and runny eyes, it is very likely that you and your Vet have discussed allergies.  Remember, “I am not a Vet.”

 Grind or Clip?
“Why does my dog want to hit the ceiling when I attempt to trim or grind his or her nails?”  Let’s think about this from a dog’s point of view.  They instinctively have an urge to survive.  This instinctive urge is influenced by their Breed’s Needs from whichever Group of Breeds they have descended.
