Tampa Thunder Goes To America's Champions' Cup! E-mail

Riverview Community Lends a Hand E-mail

On Tuesday, June 29, 2010, the Tampa Bay community lost two police officers in a fatal shooting. When residents of Riverview learned of this tragedy upon waking, disbelief and shock were replaced with sadness and anger. Barbara Jones, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, called the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce and informed the chamber that over 250 volunteers had been searching all night, without food or water, for the suspect. Could the chamber help with this situation? By mid morning, after many phone calls, the Riverview Community had responded with cases of water, sandwiches, salads, and so much more.

What sets their program apart from others is that they have private suites so there is complete privacy for the individual working out. The studio is up-scale and fully stocked with all the workout tools needed for any goal. Some of the goals of clients include weight loss, staying in shape, better health and bulking up.  Goals are set for each individual on a personal basis and with the client’s goals in mind. It is important for each client to set the goals to make sure the program is a good fit for him/her. The goal is to help the individual client to meet the goals through the idea of one client-one trainer-one goal. They serve clients from about age 12 and up. They also provide nutrition counseling.

Last month the FishHawk Coyotes Lacrosse Teams completed their second year of competition playing at the FishHawk Sports Complex with another stellar year.  The Coyotes had 4 teams this year and each finished their season with the WFLL Lacrosse Tournament which was hosted May 8th at the FishHawk Sports Complex.  Coyotes teams had an excellent showing as 2 of their teams won the tournament in their divisions, one team finished second and the other team third.

The Blue Wave Swim Team at The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center is proud to announce that Celi Guzman, Age 9, and Barbara Caraballo, 14 swam extremely well at the Nationals Championship in Puerto Rico. Celi earned 4 gold medals and 2 silver, while Barbara earned 11 gold medals, broke 10 Puerto Rican records and 6 Blue Wave Swim Team Records. Celi is coached by Morag Betz and Ryan Leach, and Barbara is coached by Don LaMont.

The Gulf Coast Flames, U14, Bantam AA Hockey Team Has Undefeated Season E-mail

The Gulf Coast Flames, U14, Bantam AA hockey team out of Ellenton, Fl. went undefeated in their recent fall season, going 16 - 0 in regular season games.  They play in the Statewide Florida Hockey League which includes rinks in Brandon, Clearwater, Orlando, Coral Springs, Ft. Myers and Ft. Lauderdale.   They participated in several AAA tournaments in the Northeast throughout the season as well.   They clinched the State Title on March 14, 2010 in Coral Springs, Fl.
