The annual Riverview Honorary Mayor’s Race was kicked off Tuesday, August 31st, at the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce Monthly Luncheon, sponsored by Dr. Bob Encinosa, Boyette Animal Hospital. Current Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Jeanne Bush, Serenity Meadows Memorial Park and Funeral Home encouraged members to officially toss their hat into the ring to become a candidate. Tossing their hats in the ring for this major fundraising event are Charles Crump of Save a Life Today, Mike Self, S&S Tacos & Stuff/Pizzas & Stuff and Dr. Kim Tyson, Four Paws Veterinary Hospital. |

The Newsome High School Varsity Team is preparing for their 8th season. Coach Kenneth Hiscock is at the helm for his 5th season (7th overall) at the school. The coach says that this year the team is the most talented he has seen at the school. Not only do they have experience at the starting positions, but they also have depth. Coach says that expectations are high, but you still have to play the game. The team is led by Joe Worth, a linebacker and tight end, and Conner Powers, a fullback. They are two of the leaders of the team in terms of work ethic and experience and are two of the captains. Will Worth is the quarterback and linebacker. Coach Hiscock says that many of his players will be going both ways, but the depth will help them out.
