The annual Riverview Honorary Mayor’s Race was kicked off Tuesday, August 31st, at the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce Monthly Luncheon, sponsored by Dr. Bob Encinosa, Boyette Animal Hospital.  Current Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Jeanne Bush, Serenity Meadows Memorial Park and Funeral Home encouraged members to officially toss their hat into the ring to become a candidate.  Tossing their hats in the ring for this major fundraising event are Charles Crump of Save a Life Today, Mike Self, S&S Tacos & Stuff/Pizzas & Stuff and Dr. Kim Tyson, Four Paws Veterinary Hospital.

The FishHawk Wolfpack Junior Midget North team began their season with a jamboree game against the South Shore Longhorns. It turned out to be a bit of a long day as it rained off and on and had a lightning delay. Once the game started the weather held off enough to get the game in.

The Happy Travelers Group invites You to join them at their Third Anniversary Celebration by attending their “ Let me take you on a Sea Cruise” Dance. Dance Music will be provided by Del & Gary. This duo plays a variety of music from the greats of Doo Wop, 50's, 60's, 70's, Old Time Rock N Roll, Disco, and Country from old to today's stars. They sing the top hits from these eras and they will have you dancing and singing along to all the classic hits.

Riverview, FL:  On Thursday, August 19th, 2010 the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce along with the local business community warmly welcomed 185 new teachers (teachers new to the teaching profession and/or new to the area) and principals to the Greater Riverview area with a special breakfast, event program, goodie bags and raffle prizes.  This year’s event took place at the Riverview High School for the first time.

RIVERVIEW FL, AUGUST 13, 2010:  Let the celebrating begin!!  Jason Huertas, 14 from Riverview, FL, Barrington Oaks Middle School, traveled to Duluth, Georgia to fight against the best Judoka (Judo Players) in the nation on July 24 and July 25.  Earning a bronze medal against other fighters with higher ranks, Jason was able to earn a place on the podium through his determination and take no prisoners attitude.

World-Class Cancer Care Coming to Central Florida

THE VILLAGES & LEESBURG, FL (July 29, 2010) – Moffitt Cancer Center and Central Florida Health Alliance jointly announce today that they are partnering to provide world-class cancer care closer to home.  The partnership will deliver state-of-the-art cancer care in two new facilities to be built on the campuses of Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Health System.

The Jessica Rose Foundation helps to provide financial assistance to families within the Greater Tampa Bay region when their child is in cancer treatment. This foundation is committed to providing assistance to help supplement income loss and offset medical or other care-related expenses not covered by insurance.

Head Football Coach Bruce Gifford of the Riverview High School Sharks receives his check from Mike Self of S & S Tacos/Pizzas & Stuff of Riverview along with Jill Canavan owner of Apollo Beach Cherry's and Tiger Hoffman President of South Shore Anglers. The Trio put on a Black tip Shark Fishing Tournament on July 24, 2010, that netted the team enough money to stencil the football field and purchase future equipment for the team.
